What should clients do if they are unable to attend a counselling session?

If you are unable to keep your counselling appointment, please telephone me on 07504 744 086 or e-mail info@damienhaigh.co.uk, and give me as much notice as you can. You can leave a message on my answer machine if I am with a client.

I will be happy to reschedule your appointment to another time which is more suitable for you.

If you are cancelling at short notice (less than 24 hours), then please contact me by telephone rather than e-mail.

Will you still charge a fee if I cancel or rearrange a counselling session?

I will always try to help if you need to cancel or rearrange a session. However, if you give me less than 24 hours’ notice of a cancellation or rearranged session, then in some circumstances I may still need to ask you to pay 15 for the missed session, as I may still incur some costs.

However, if you give me more than 24 hours’ notice that you cannot attend, then there is no charge for changing or cancelling your session.

(If you do not notify me that you will not be attending, then the full session fee of 36 is payable for the missed session.)

You are responsible for making sure that I have received your message about any cancelled sessions.

What happens if the counsellor has to cancel a session?

There may be times when I have to cancel sessions, for example, if I am ill, or if I cannot attend for any reason. I will notify you as soon as possible if I am unable to make an appointment.

If I have to cancel a session, I will try to offer you an alternative appointment if you need one. If we are unable to find a mutually convenient alternative time, then I will of course not charge a fee for that week.

There may also be breaks in our counselling when I am on holiday, or undergoing further training. I usually take six weeks’ holiday each year, in one- or two-week blocks. I do not charge fees for missed sessions whilst I am on holiday. I will give as much notice as possible of any forthcoming holidays.
